Six Sentence Sunday Banner, White Words on Yellow Starburst
(Taking place sometime after …and I Get to be Chained to You, where June Darby and Knock Out wind up on an accidental road trip together, escaping MECH.)

June had just put her groceries in the trunk and closed the lid when a car pulled up just behind her, at the edge of her vision, and sat there idling. Great. Even in a half-empty parking lot, you just had to have that one jerk impatient to get a closer parking spot.

“Juust be patient, buddy,” she muttered to herself.

“Hey. You. Human.”

No. No. Nonononono….

“Knock Out,” she said, somehow managing to keep her voice even. “What do you want?”

“I…” Knock Out sighed in annoyance and his voice took on a sulky tone, “I need your help, human. Again.”
