In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year?
Hey, alright, Fandom Snowflake's back! Also known as that time of year I swear to get back to actually interacting with people and creating fanworks and end up failing around March or so.
In my defense, the last couple of years have been really kind of shitty for everyone and I got distracted by real life matters. Last year was exceptionally bad in that I didn't even finish Snowflake and looking forward to that was pretty much what got me through December 2016. Last year was also...up and down, improving towards the end of the year.
So, don't know how things will go this year but I'll do my best.
I come back to Snowflake because it has the things I think fandom has lost over the past several years: interaction and discussion. Reading and viewing things other people have created is great but I don't find Tumblr to be the best medium for discussion. It's great for sharing easily but I find the comment threading to be harder to track than it is on Dreamwidth/LJ.
I always come back to Snowflake feeling so cheered up. ^_^ That's what I've looked forward to in past years, and again this year.
