The Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Day 8

Day 8

In your own space, create a love meme for yourself. Let people tell you how amazing and awesome and loveable you really are. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. Surf the comments and find people to give love to.

Oh, this is a hard one. Really. Bit outside my comfort zone but I hold that doing things outside one's comfort zone can be healthy. ("I'm a little nervous, but I'll push through" as opposed to someone shoving you when you're going "no, please, I really really can't.") So.

I'm a little shy about reaching out, more than a touch introverted, but I do like to talk with people. Kind of the entire purpose of fandom, right? So drop me some love. Heck, go ahead and ask questions: this is a relatively new journal that's just ramping up but I've been a fangirl for a loooong time. We might have something in common. ^_^

How favorite anything is can depend on my mood - if I've been in a favorite for a while I'll often start to drift away. But here's what comes to mind with random association:

Star Trek
Babylon 5
Sherlock
Stargate
Stargate: Atlantis
Lord of the Rings & the Silmarillion
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I would be part of the fandoms for Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, and The Kingkiller Chronicles but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot out there for them that catches my interest. (MS&T dates from the 80s, Kingkiller Chronicles is relatively new, so that's probably why.) I like the Iron Elves trilogy, but...I seem to be the only one who's heard of it. (Elves. Magic. US Civil War-era tech. What's not to love? Though I grant you the writing is rocky in places. Ah well.)

I think I've heard of the Iron Elves, but that's as far as it goes, alas. It does sound wonderful!

Have you been watching Almost Human? I am loving it, although not fannish about it yet.

Then I encourage you to give it a try. :)

I'm on the fence about Almost Human. On the one hand, I like paranormal stuff. On the other, it looks a bit sitcom-y for my taste. I'm willing to give it a shot, just need to get a few things off my plate first!

:D

Almost Human is straight scifi. It has sitcomy moments, especially when Dorian and Kennex are in the car (OMG), but overall, it doesn't have a sitcommy feel. I can't tolerate sitcoms. (If you want some spoilers for the car convos, you can check out my actual dialogue tag on tumblr (http://jelazakazone.tumblr.com/search/actual+dialogue).

OMG. I was thinking of Being Human! Yes, Almost Human is the one with Karl Urban and the android, isn't it? Yes, that one is DEFINITELY on my radar! I tend to wait until seasons are done, then marathon them all at once. Helps with those pesky cliffhangers. :)

LOL. Being Human is too... freaky for me to consider. :D

Yes! Almost Human has Karl Urban and Michael Ealy and they are FABULOUS together. I recommend it!

You had me at 'robots' and 'Karl Urban'. :)

:D Excellent!
